What We Do

From the moment a cat or kitten comes into our care, we commit to giving them the safety, medical support, and love they deserve.

Rescue

Rescue & Intake

We focus on cats and kittens who are homeless, abandoned, or at risk — including litters found outdoors, owner surrenders, and shelter transfers in need of extra support.

Care

Medical Care & Rehabilitation

Each animal receives vet exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter when appropriate, and any needed treatment. In foster homes, they learn to trust, play, and feel safe again.

Adoption

Responsible Adoptions

We carefully match cats and kittens with adopters and families who can meet their needs. Our process prioritizes lifelong placements and support for both the animal and adopter.

Adoptable Cats & Kittens

Meet some of the cats and kittens currently searching for loving, indoor homes. All adoptions include age-appropriate vaccinations and spay/neuter when possible.

Our Mission

Rooted in Tupper Lake, NY, we’re here to make sure no cat or kitten is left behind.

Purrs and Paws Cat and Kitten Rescue Inc. was founded with a simple belief: every cat and kitten deserves a safe, loving home. We focus on the cats who might otherwise be overlooked — those outdoors, abandoned, surrendered, or needing extra medical or emotional care.

Working with foster homes, veterinarians, and compassionate community members, we provide comprehensive care: intake, vetting, socialization, and adoption placement. Our goal is not just to save lives today, but to build a more humane, responsible future for cats in our region.

Transparency matters to us. We strive to be clear about how donations are used, how our adoption process works, and what each cat needs to thrive. When you support Purrs and Paws, you become part of every happy ending we help create.

Happy Tails & Second Chances

Every adoption is a new beginning. These stories highlight the difference your support can make.

Willow · From Barn Cat to Beloved Companion

Willow was found trying to survive in a cold barn. After vet care and months in foster, she learned to trust people again — and now spends her days following her adopter from room to room, purring nonstop.

The Snowflake Litter

A litter of tiny kittens was discovered in a snowbank. With round-the-clock bottle feeding and medical support, they grew strong and playful — and every single one is now safe and adored in an indoor home.

Oliver · Senior Cat, New Start

When Oliver arrived, he needed dental work and a lot of TLC. Donors helped fund his medical care, and his foster family helped him blossom. Today, he’s living out his golden years in comfort and love.

Have questions about adopting, fostering, or donating? Start here.

What is included with an adoption?

Our goal is to set both you and your new cat up for success. Adoptions typically include age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter (when medically appropriate), basic deworming, and a review of any known medical history.

How much is the adoption fee?

Adoption fees help offset a small portion of our costs and may vary based on age, medical needs, and other factors. Please contact us for current fees and available cats — we are happy to talk through what’s included.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes. Purrs and Paws Cat and Kitten Rescue Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our EIN is 27-2353029. Please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance.

Can I foster instead of adopting?
